It’s time for Spring: Spring Semester that is!
Please pray for students as they start the Spring Semester. Pray for safe travels back to school and a great start to the semester! Pray that God will guide those students who are unsure of their career goals to the work He has for them.
Pray for God to call out students to serve as summer missionaries this summer. Pray that students will answer that call! (February 1st is the deadline for applications)
Raising Money for Summer Missions!
Above, brother and sister team, Pat and Elizabeth Cantrell shaved Lucas Hunter’s head. The next day Lucas had a constant stream of people in his classes asking to have their picture taken with him, backward of course!
UTK – Beard Auction
Every year the gentlemen at the UT Knoxville BCM begin to grow out their beards during No-Shave November in order to have them ready for the BCM Beard Auction. This is a lot of fun because many people ask why you are growing your beard and that provides an opportunity to share with them about BCM, Missions, Christ and the Gospel. Many people are already aware of No-Shave November as a way to raise awareness for prostate cancer, but not so many people turn it into a great way to raise money for missions. Most students don’t have a lot of money, but this fundraiser takes what they have to offer and turns it into cash. 13 students, the husband of an associate campus minister and a campus minister auctioned the privilege to shave their beards into anything, any shape or style for missions. The victim, uh volunteer, must leave their beard that way for 24 hours before they can shave. The beards and sometimes heads as you can see, range from stylish to absurd. UTK BCM raised $1,529 for Send TN Missions this year during finals week.
